Either a lifetime licensing option or a pay-per-version pricing model to avoid subscriptions.

The reason being is that for many authors and researchers, writing isn't something done at a non-stop, but on an interval basis.

Having a continuous subscription means either having to pay and cancel it several times a year (for fair use) or simply paying for something that's not used every single month (waste).
